No we can teach other styles, but we mainly focus on Rock.

Do I have to have natural ability (talent)?
No anyone can learn to sing or play an instrument.
All you need is the desire and the motivation to learn and practice.

I'm not very confident, does it matter?
No In fact, most people are very nervous about learning to play an instrument in front of someone else. Our private lessons are all one on one and our teachers are fantastic - they make you feel really comfortable. All teachers were students once too. They're all very friendly and honest and you'll be surprised how quickly you'll settle in.

Do you teach absolute beginners or advanced?
We all have to start somewhere.
We have a lot of absolute beginners who have just become interested in playing an instrument. We also teach professional musicians looking to brush up on their technique.

Do you offer any group lessons ?
Yes we offer Rock Divas - Group Singing and Movement classes for Girls aged 3 - 14 years.
As well as Little Rockers - Group Music lessons for ages 3 -7.

Do you offer any group lessons for boys ?
Yes Little Rockers.

Do you offer any group instrument lessons ?
Not currently, but we are looking to expand and offer group instrument lessons
in the very near future.

Do I have to be able to read music?
No However, if you want to get serious about your music and become the best musician you can be then learning to read music is a great step in that direction. Nevertheless, it is true that many great musicians still make great music without being able to read music.

What happens in a private lesson?
You will be assigned a Rock song. We are a performance based school so you will learn various techniques to help you play that song and perform as part of a band. Once during the term you will have the opportunity to jam with other students on the song you were assigned. You can also discuss your interests with your teacher during your lessons.

Do I have to perform / Jam ?
No we
offer you the opportunity to perform because we feel you are ready and would gain from the experience. When it comes to the Jam sessions we do ask that all students participate, everyone is in the same boat it's a new experience, but an extremely valuable one. Your teachers will be there to help and guide you through it. This is what Rock n Roll is all about, you get to be part of a band. Once you've done it once like most students you will be asking when do you get to jam again.

Do you have a set curriculum?
No, There are a lot of different avenues and styles in the music industry we are a Rock music School so our focus is on learning to play Rock n Roll and performing in a band. Lessons are tailored to each individual at the appropriate level.

How much are private lessons and how long are they?
Lessons are weekly. $30 for ½ an hour plus a one off registration fee of $30.

How much are Rock Divas lessons and how long are they?
Lessons are weekly. Ages 3 - 4 :$10 for a 25 minute class,
Ages 5 - 14 :$15 for a 55 minute class.
All ages are plus a one off registration fee of $30.

How long does it take to learn?
Everyone's different.
All teachers at Rosie's School of Rock work in the industry and have exceptional playing and teaching skills. This means that you will learn faster with your teacher (and avoid developing bad habits) than you would somewhere else or on your own at home.
However, it still depends a lot on just how much you practice. Your teacher is your own private library source and it depends what you do with that information between lessons.
The more you practice the quicker you will progress.

Do I have to own an instrument?
Not necessarily but practicing is what makes you develop as a musician and you can't practice if you don't have an instrument.
The following guide may help:

Drums
We don't expect you to bring a drum kit to lessons. There is a drum kit at the school for you to have your lessons on. Regarding practicing outside lessons: you can start off with just a practice pad and a set of sticks.

Guitar and Bass
Most musicians prefer to use their own instrument, if you don't own your own instrument we will provide one for you for your lessons.
Alternatively ask a friend or relative if they have a guitar (preferably with steel strings) that you can borrow until you decide if guitar is right for you.

Piano, Keyboards and Singing
Your instruments and accessories will be provided for you in your lesson.

Do I receive a GigBag with Rock n Roll goodies when i begin?
Yes upon full payment at the start of term you will be provided with a GigBag including a T shirt, bag and folder.

Will there be an end of year performance?
Yes the focus of Rosie's School of Rock is for everyone to get up and have a go.
We also have opportunities throughout the year for students to perform.
